Who are we?

We are the Ezidi people of Shingal.

This petition conveys the unified voice of our people—speaking across generations, geographies, and walks of life. It is endorsed by a wide cross-section of Ezidi society: tribal leaders, religious figures, military commanders, civil administrators, political leaders, genocide survivors, scholars, youth, and professionals. Together, we present a shared demand rooted in our struggle to survive persecution and shaped by our vision of a dignified, secure future.

After surviving the genocide of August 3, 2014, we have carried the burden of trauma, displacement, and injustice. Yet our will to endure and to restore our homeland has never faded. While many promises have been made in our name, the world has failed to resolve the root causes of our suffering, leaving Shingal unstable, unprotected, and politically contested.

This petition is our collective solution. We call for the formation of an International Commission to resolve the status of Shingal and to support the establishment of a semi-autonomous region under the Iraqi Constitution—free from the influence of those who enabled our genocide. We seek local, nonpartisan governance and security that guarantees our safety, protects our identity, and honors the sacrifices of those who defended our people.

We do not speak as one faction, but as one people. With one voice, we ask the international community and the Iraqi government to fulfill their promises and stand with us—not only in remembrance of those lost, but in action for the living.

The Ezidis must not be forgotten.
